My BookTubeAThon ’18 TBR List

BookTubeAThon is a 1-week readathon hosted by Ariel Bissett with hundreds of participants across book blogs, BookTube, and Bookstagram. This is my first big reading challenge, so I’m super excited to read alongside the community!

Here are my picks for this year’s challenges. It’s highly unlikely I’ll get to all of them, but I’m going to push myself and try hard to get through at least five—four in hard copies and one audiobook.

1 – Let a coin toss decide your first read

Heads is Gena Showalter’s Alice in Zombieland and tails is Leigh Bardugo’s Six of Crows.

And heads have it! This is actually good for me, because I’m excited to read SOC but it’s much longer.

2 – Read a book about something you want to do

This was a little harder, because I was scanning my TBR and mostly seeing characters in life-or-death situations or YA contemporaries about being in high school, and neither of those sounds like fun. I decided to use this as an excuse to knock out a classic. I’ve always wanted to see the Mississippi River, so my pick for this one will be Mark Twain’s The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.

3 – Read and watch a book-to-movie adaptation

I just found a cheap copy of Every Day at Target, and the movie trailers looked great, so I’ll go with that!

4 – Read a book with green on the cover

Probably I’m going to go with one of this month’s YA releases, Notes from My Captivity by Kathy Parkswhich has some lovely pine trees on the cover, but I also recently picked up Taylor Jenkins Reid’s The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo from my library, so I’ll see which I want to go with when I get there.

5 – Read a book wearing the same hat the entire time

Moshin Hamid’s Exit West has been on my TBR for way too long! It won a ton of awards and acclaim and I saw several people list it as one of the best books of last year. It’s surprisingly short, so I really don’t have an excuse for not having read this one.

6 – Read a book with a beautiful spine

I received Spinning Silver in my first-ever Book of the Month box, and the cover and spine are lovely. It’s a little longer, so I don’t know if I’ll get to it, but it’s on the list.

7 – Read seven books in one week

For the free space here, I’m picking Tara Westover’s memoir Educated, which I’ll listen to on audiobook.
